CURVED SMOKE GLASS PANELS MADE OF MARTIN GLASS GIVE MELT A LUXURIOUS APPEARANCE
The office concept MELT has been realized in a completely renovated former Philips building on Strijp T in Eindhoven. Curved smoked glass panels from Martin Glas give the office a very chic look. Bouw En Renovatie (BER), together with LOVD Interieur and KRAGT, carried out this transformation of industrial heritage into a modern and luxurious office building.
OFFICE CONCEPT MELT
“It is an old Philips building renovated by Geva Vastgoed with an A+++ label. This building at Strijp-T has been completely renovated, the carcass has remained, but everything else is new.” Speaking is Berrie Eding, director of Construction and Renovation (BER). His company carried out the renovation of the MELT office concept in Eindhoven. “MELT is an office concept in which living and working merge, as it were.” The location of MELT on the sixth floor of the building presented a considerable challenge for the installation of the glass. Everything was transported to and from the sixth floor with the help of a special crane. A special piston was used to mount the curved panels.
CROSS-POLLINATION
Eding explains how the concept of MELT works. “It is an office garden with separate Workspaces, which can be sublet to different companies. There are various shared facilities such as a shared kitchen and a meeting room. This makes it easy for cross-pollination between the different companies to arise.” BER took care of the renovation of the floor together with LOVD Interiors. “Together we arranged the renovation from A to Z, from finishing to furnishing.” The design for MELT was made by KRAGT, says Eding. “Through close cooperation in the construction team with KRAGT and LOVD, we were able to realize this project in a very short period of time.”
LUXURIOUS APPEARANCE
Important in the MELT office concept is the luxurious appearance, says Eding. “We therefore used smoked and curved glass, for example. That gives a chic look compared to other offices.” The smoked glass comes from Martin Glas from Eindhoven. Eding: “That is a regular party for us. We know what we have in common and that is really necessary because you have to be able to switch quickly in such a project from time to time. For us, quality and reliability are at the top of our list. We cannot afford to run out of time on such projects. Usually the tenants are eager to move into the spaces.”
NEXT LEVEL
Martin Glas supplied 425 m2 of flat ground tempered smoked glass of 10 mm thick, including hard glass doors, for the project. In addition, curved panels (1/4 circle) of smoked glass were supplied and aluminum glass profiles and frames in RAL 1035. The door fittings were made of stainless steel. Martin Glas also made a unique aluminum folding wall in RAL 1035 with glass panels especially for this project. Eding: “Normally these exclusive designs, such as the curved glass, do not reach the finish line and unfortunately these kinds of details are cut out. But because MELT had to get a next level look, they were not removed this time, and that can be seen in the end result!”
